Stop chasing a part order through three inboxes and a phone call.
WhoNeedsWhat? gives engineers a straight line from “I need this” to “it’s on its way” — and gives stores one queue instead of a scattered mess of emails. You don’t need to replace your invoicing or job-management system to fix this — just the ordering part that’s broken.
Runs standalone, or connects to WhosNext? to see every order against the customer it’s for.
One queue, visible to everyone in it
No new habits to learn — engineers order the way they already look things up.
Set up your catalogue once
Load your parts list in, with the pricing and stock terms you already work to.
Engineers order from their phone
Search, add to the order, submit — no email, no ringing round to check what’s in stock.
Stores updates status as it moves
Ordered, picked, sent — engineers see exactly where their order is without asking.
Built around how parts actually move
Self-service ordering
Engineers search the catalogue and submit an order themselves — no back-and-forth to place it.
Live order status
Every order moves through Ordered → Picked → Sent, visible to whoever placed it.
One catalogue
A single source of truth for parts and pricing — no duplicated spreadsheets drifting out of sync.
Order history per customer
See what’s been ordered for a job without digging through old emails.
Built for teams who order parts every week, not every quarter

Questions before you start
Do engineers need to install anything?
No. Ordering runs in the browser on any phone — nothing to install.
We already use a job management platform with parts ordering built in — why would we switch?
If that’s already working, you probably don’t need this. WhoNeedsWhat? is for teams whose parts ordering is broken but who aren’t ready to rip out and replace their whole job-management or invoicing setup just to fix it — a fix for the one thing that’s actually failing, not a platform migration.
Can it use our existing supplier prices?
Not yet — today’s catalogue is fixed, with your own price list import on the roadmap.
What happens if a part’s out of stock?
It’s flagged as backordered, and the engineer who ordered it is notified.
Can I see all orders for a specific customer or job?
Yes — order history is kept per customer, so you can see what’s already gone out without searching old emails.
Does this connect to WhosNext??
Yes — once WhosNext? is live, orders will show up against the customer account they belong to. Until then, WhoNeedsWhat? runs entirely on its own.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Billing is rolling monthly with 30 days’ notice to stop — no long-term contract.
